Historic Train Accidents of Local Interest

Documents on this page are accident investigations of some train wrecks that occurred on the Illinois Central Railroad in Illinois between 1912 and 1983.

This is obviously not a complete list; however, one thing that all of these accidents have in common is that fatalities occurred in all of them.

As some of these wrecks involved persons that are relatives or friends of may of the people who regularly use this site, we would like to point out that the reason that these documents are being displayed here is for both their historical interest and for officers and members of Division 602 to have ready reference to the causes of accidents that occurred over territory that we operate in order to hopefully better understand how to prevent such occurrences in the future if at all within our power.
